Story

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and Manjushri Bodhisattva are the two main attendants of Shakyamuni Buddha, known as the Avatamsaka Three Saints. The *Avatamsaka Sutra* records his Ten Great Vows: respecting all Buddhas, praising Tathagatas, making offerings, repenting karmic obstacles, rejoicing in merits, requesting the Buddha to preach, asking Buddhas to remain in the world, always learning from Buddhas, adapting to all beings, and dedicating all merits universally. These vows represent putting enlightenment into daily practice. It is said that Samantabhadra resides on Mount Emei, which is his sacred place. In folk belief, he is the guardian Bodhisattva for people born in the Year of Dragon and Snake.
