Story

Mahāvairocana means "universally illuminating light". He is the Dharma Body of Shakyamuni Buddha and the supreme primordial Buddha of Esoteric Buddhism. His light pervades everywhere without day-night boundary and shines upon all living beings. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are his manifestations. Esoteric Buddhism’s two mandalas, the Diamond Realm and Womb Realm, both place Mahāvairocana at the center. Unlike Buddhas born into human history, he embodies the ultimate truth of the universe. In folk zodiac belief, Mahāvairocana is the guardian Buddha for those born in the Year of the Goat and Monkey. Sincere worship grants the blessing of universal wisdom, dispels ignorance and brings smooth fortune.
